The subject of food and weight loss can send even the calmest and in control woman into a tailspin. We all want to be healthier, but sometimes it seems like food has more control over us than it should. I mean, who can resist that freshly baked chocolate chip cookie or that smooth, sweet glass of wine? The good news is, you don’t always have to! So how can we break this cycle about fretting over food? Let’s investigate the top three tips that can help you go from fretting to feeling great!

Stop Labelling

When we label foods “good” or “bad”, they can sometimes take on a life of their own. And who doesn’t want to taste the “forbidden fruit” even if they know it’s not good for them? Try and stick to the food you know is healthy for you most of the time, but don’t forget to treat yourself once and a while so you won’t feel deprived. By getting rid of labels for food, we are taking away the power they have over us, and this can make a world of difference in your life.

Stay in the Now

Sometimes we get so caught up in what we ate yesterday or what we’re going to eat tomorrow; we forget that all we really have is the here and now. The present moment. If you try and remember to ground yourself in the present moment and make good choices for you based on what is happening in your life right now, it can eliminate a lot of fretting. And furthermore, if you did slip up yesterday, be kind to yourself and move on. Dwelling on past mistakes will not help your body or your mind.

Experiment, Then Experiment Some More

Eating your favorite foods in moderation should be the end goal. However, if you never try to eat a bite of cake or a forkful of pasta, you’ll continuously live your life fretting over these foods. You have to try and eat them. Once you do, you’ll notice the pounds do not instantly pile on, or the diet police don’t come and arrest you. So go ahead! Experiment with your favorite foods so that they become a regular part of your life, not something to fret over or fear.

Try one of these tips, or all of them together and see how breaking the cycle of fretting over food will make you happier and healthier!
